The Draft Plan
The full Draft Plan will be shared here before the Consultation period begins (late June).
Draft Plan summary
Introduction
The Draft Plan sets out a shared vision for how our parish should evolve over the next 15-20 years, helping ensure that change happens in a way that reflects local priorities and protects what makes this area special.
What the Draft Plan includes
The plan focuses on 5 key areas that matter most to our community:
Housing & Design
-
Supports small-scale, well-designed homes that meet local needs.
-
Prioritises smaller and more affordable homes, including for first-time buyers and older residents.
-
Ensures new development reflects the character of the village and follows a locally developed design code.
-
Promotes energy-efficient, sustainable homes.
The Plan does not allocate large new housing sites. Instead it supports small, appropriate development within or next to the existing village.
Environment, Landscape & Heritage
-
Protects the open Fenland landscape, big skies and rural views.
-
Safeguards green spaces, wildlife habitats, trees and hedgerows.
-
Designates important Local Green Spaces for protection.
-
Protects heritage assets and historic features.
Movement & Access
-
Supports better walking and cycling routes within the parish and to nearby areas.
-
Encourages safer roads and improved traffic management.
-
Promotes improvements to public transport and connectivity.
Community Facilities & Local Life
-
Protects valued facilities like the school, shop, pharmacy, village hall and pub.
-
Supports small local businesses and community enterprises.
-
Encourages new or improved social and community spaces.
Flooding, Climate & Sustainability
-
Directs development away from areas at risk of flooding.
-
Requires sustainable drainage and water management.
-
Encourages measures to improve climate resilience and reduce emissions.
